Siena offers a never-ending number of cultural sights and interests for travelers: the unique “Palio” and wine tasting in the old wine bars, romantic walks along the narrow alleys and excursions outside the city in the Siena Chianti area and in Val'Orcia.

Siena is one of the best testimonies of the Italian medieval cities. This legend will follow us during our visit of the centre of Siena. Walking through the narrow ancient streets we’ll reach the heart of the town: Piazza del Campo. The shape of this square reminds us of a shell and it’s one of the biggest squares in Europe, built over a Roman Forum. This square is also famous for the Palio as twice a year (2nd July and 16th August), a horse race with bareback jockeys coming from 17 “contrade” of Siena contend the “Palio” (a heraldic banner). After we’ll visit the Cathedral /Duomo/, which is one of most reliable examples of the Italian Romanesque-gothic architecture, and the Baptistery. You’ll need a half a day for this tour and you can combine it with the visit of San Gimignano, Monteriggioni or with the Itinerary of Chianti wine for the rest of your day.
